TCards / Library Cards

Students

Students at the University of Toronto Scarborough obtain TCards from the Registrar’s Office. The all purpose TCard functions as your official university identification as well as a library card and copy card.

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff obtain TCards at the UTSC Library TCard Office on presentation of the appropriate documentation (Government issued photo ID plus one of the following: Getting on-line at U of T  letter from Human Resources or a TCard Request Form obtained from the departmental Business Officer). For more information contact the TCard Office or your department Business Officer/Administrative Assistant.

Lost TCard

A lost or stolen TCard is considered valid until you report it to the TCard Office  (or call 416-208-2660) or the U of T Scarborough Library (416-287-7482). You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card. If you are eligible for a replacement card, one will be issued for a replacement fee of $12 (GST and PST included).

If there is any stored value on the card it should be treated the same way as cash. If you lose the card, you lose the money stored on it. The card should not be lent to anyone or put in an unsafe place.

Alumni

Borrowing privileges expire on graduation. Alumni must purchase library services.

U of T Alumni Card

•    provides access to alumni discounts for campus services such as Athletic Centre and Hart House memberships
•    provides ID for access to closed stacks in Robarts Library
•    Cost (one-time) $20 + Tax

If Alumni wish to purchase borrowing privileges they may choose between the following levels of service:

Alumni Borrower

Up to 25 loans at a time
No renewals
No holds
Cost: $60/year

Alumni Research Reader

Up to 100 loans at a time
2 renewals
May place "holds" by phone or in person
Cost for Alumni:
$125/year
$75/6 months
$50/3 months
Seniors $80/year.

Borrowing from elsewhere

If U of T Libraries do not have the material you need, Alumni Readers and Alumni Research Readers may ask staff in Access Services  to obtain the item, or a copy, from another institution. Cost: $20.00 per request

Digital Library for Alumni

Alumni may subscribe to selected online journals through the Digital Library for Alumni. Information about the content of this service, the registration form, and prices is available at http://content.library.utoronto.ca/services/others/alumni/subscription.

Library privileges for external borrowers, including members of other university communities

In order to maintain our acquisitions and provide services to all researchers, fees for library privileges extended to Research Readers and Direct Borrowers, as of October 1, 2009 are:

12 mos. - $250.00
6 mos. - $160.00
3 mos. - $100.00
Seniors(12 mos.) - $110.00

Graduate students, staff and faculty members from other universities

Graduate students, staff and faculty members from other universities may apply for Direct Borrower privileges.

Other members of the public

All other members of the public interested in arranging borrowing privileges at U of T Libraries may apply for a Research Reader card, or an institutional "Associate Membership". 

 

Managing your Library Account

Two options are available:

  • By accessing "my account" in the Library Catalogue.
  • By signing up for Library Notices via E-mail.
