When does 24/7 service begin?

24/7 service is available during exams, and the study period immediately preceding exams, during the Fall and Winter terms.

Note: 24/7 is not offered in the summer term.

Who can use the Library overnight?

U of T students, faculty, and staff.

A valid TCard is required for entry after 10:00 p.m.

What can I expect in the Library overnight?

·      When the User Services Desk closes at 10:30 p.m., the Library will remain open to provide secure study space

·      Access to the Informatics Commons, printers, and photocopiers

·      The Group Study rooms will be available on a first-come first-served basis

·      Quiet Study rooms will be available

What are the rules in the Library overnight?

The Food, Drink and Noise policies are in effect. 

The Library Code of Conduct and the Code of Student Conduct apply at all times.

What if I need help?

A campus building patroller is in the Library overnight. Please feel free to approach the patroller any time you require general assistance.

Patrol staff will not provide any library services.

For Library-related assistance please come to the Library when the User Services Desk is open.

Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.                       
Saturday & Sunday: noon to midnight

For technical issues with computers or printers, please visit the IITS Help Desk in the Library.

Monday to Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.   
Saturday & Sunday: 12:00 p.m.  to 6:00 p.m.

What if I have trouble signing out books using the self-checkout machine?

Please request assistance from the patrol staff.

These books will be held for you until the User Services Desk closes the following day.

If you do not come to pick up your books, they will be re-shelved to give other students an opportunity to use them.

What if I need to borrow an item on course reserve?

Course reserves are available from the Library's self-service Course Reserve area located next to the Library entrance.

During overnight hours when library staff are not available, course reserve material should be returned to the drop box. Please do not leave course reserve material on the User Services desk. Patrons are responsible for material charged to their library account.
