Assignment planner

Dear Scarby, Help! I have so many assignments this semester and I don’t how to keep on track with them all!  - Buried in Assignments, 3rd year

Dear Buried, I know keeping track of all your assignments can be difficult, but don’t worry because I have a great tool that can help you. Allow me to introduce you to my little friend called the Assignment Planner! I think you two would be a perfect match. It breaks down all the different steps of your assignments for you and then gives you a time plan that you can follow. All you have to do is enter the dates you want to start and finish your assignment and what kind of assignment it is and voila!, you get a detailed plan that will help you keep track of your assignment!

Is the library hiring?

Dear Scarby, Working at the library looks like fun! I'd really like to spend time hanging out with you and the librarians, and helping other students find their way around the library. Do you have any openings right now? - Friendly Bookworm, 2nd year

Hi Friendly,

The library is a great place to work for sure! If you dream of being a part-time "SHHH-er" you could apply to become a Student Library Assistant (SLA). SLAs provide service to library patrons (for example by helping them find library materials and use library equipment), they help maintain the library collection, and many other tasks. Check the website for job openings and for info on how to be a volunteer Library Society Ambassador. You can find work study and other campus jobs on CLNx.

Yours truly,

Noisy people

Dear Scarby, Why are people who are loud in the library not kicked out after multiple warnings?  - Chris, 4th year & Sajeev, 2nd year

Dear Chris & Sajeev,

While investigating, I found out that the library staff generally give out 2 warnings before they ask noise-makers to leave the library and noisy people are actually asked to leave pretty much every day! Not everyone gets 2 warnings though -- someone who is super loud and won’t listen to a warning is asked to exit the library right away. Conversation in group study rooms is allowed, as long as it’s at a reasonable volume, but no conversation is allowed in the silent study room. Did you know that the library has a ‘report noise’ link on their website under “Quick Links”? I know, when I found that out, it blew my hedgehog mind too! It’s completely anonymous. So, if someone is noisy, put in a report, and the library staff will attend to it asap! Hopefully this will help them keep the noise down in the library!

Yours truly,

Scarby H. Hedgehog
