The UTSC Library strives to ensure that the library and its resources are fully supported and accessible. Students who have a disability are encouraged to register with AccessAbility services.

Extended library services and facilities
Entrance/exit
There is an elevator located near the entrance of the library.
Automatic door openers are provided at:
- entrance
- washrooms
- group study rooms AC251A, AC252, AC255, AC284, AC285
- silent study room AC338
- mindfulness space AC258
- archives AC260
- one button studio AC286
Retrieval of books
Library staff will assist persons with disabilities patrons in the retrieval of library materials. Call the Information and Reference desk (416-287-7500), or arrange for this service in person. When making your request, provide:
- the call number
- the title
- your UTORid
The items will be checked out to you and held for three days at the desk.
Access to specialized equipment and furniture
The library is equipped with:
- a closed circuit television magnifier (CCTV) - reservation optional
- an adjustable chair
- a height-adjustable table
- ZoomText (zooms in and text-to-speech) and Kurzweil 3000 on all Info Commons computers
Contact library staff for information about or assistance with the CCTV or to sign out the adjustable chair.
Photocopying
Photocopiers and printers are available at the front of the library.
Please notify staff if you require assistance.
Photocopies of course reserves can be made if an enlargement is necessary. Photocopies can be picked up the following business day.
Publications in alternative formats
Upon request, publications can be made available in Braille, large print, electronic disc or audiocassette. Please contact AccessAbility staff to arrange for this service.

Responsibilities of persons with disabilities
If you have a disability that hinders you from making full use of library services, you are encouraged to register with AccessAbility Services. U of T Scarborough library staff will work with AccessAbility to ensure that the extended services provided will accommodate your needs. For more information, contact AccessAbility services
Making your needs known
Library staff are here to ensure that the library's resources are as accessible as possible. However, it is the responsibility of the library user to inform staff of their needs.
Reporting your whereabouts
For safety reasons, if you require assistance entering and exiting the library please report your arrival, whereabouts, and departure to Information and Reference desk staff. In the case of an emergency, library staff need to know the location of students that are mobility impaired so that fire department staff can be notified. Please familiarize yourself with emergency fire exits and fire emergency procedures posted at the front of the library. Elevators do not operate in the event of a fire.
Proxy borrower authorization
If you need to have someone else check out books and pick them up on your behalf, you must designate a proxy borrower to retrieve and check out materials in your name.
You are responsible for materials checked out by the proxy.
