COVID-19: Updates on library services and operations

Starting January 15, the UTSC Library will be operating between 10:00 am to 5:30 pm per provincial COVID-19 updates.

As of September 7, 2020, the UTSC Library partially reopened as a study space for University of Toronto students, staff and faculty. Since January 11, the library has been operating between 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Starting January 15, the UTSC Library will be operating between 10:00 am to 5:30 pm per provincial COVID-19 updates. 

Study spaces are available by appointment to U of T students through the library booking system. Visitors need to tap or swipe their TCard or scan the QR code included with their booking confirmation before entering the library. Two floors of the library are open for physically distanced studying. Study rooms for small groups are limited to individual use. All visitors will need to continue wearing non-medical masks in the library, observe physical distancing guidelines and make use of hand sanitizers available on both levels of the library. 

 

The UTSC Library Makerspace and The BRIDGE spaces remain closed.  Please continue to visit the library website regularly for operations updates.

Booking a study space  

Current U of T students, faculty and staff can reserve study spaces for up to 4 hours by making an appointment via the library booking system. It encouraged that you book a study space before entering the library for your study session. A booking confirmation will be required at the front desk. The UTSC Library height-adjustable accessible table (seat 138A) is now also available for bookings.  

Health measures  

The library is taking the following precautions to keep us all safe 

  • All visitors will be required to wear non-medical masks in the library  

  • Wipes are available in the Information Commons and hand sanitizer is available on both levels of the library 

  • Physical distancing (2 meters/6 feet) strictly enforced with seat bookings, signage, and an overall reduction in the total number of seats available  

  • Directional signs placed in the library to direct traffic flow  

  • Maximum occupancy signs posted for smaller spaces, such as bathrooms and the elevator  

  • Most high touch areas (printers, photocopiers) are off-limits  

  • Books and journals are quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours between checkouts 

Library curbside pickup service 

UTSC students, staff and faculty are eligible to use the library's Curbside Pickup Service for print books not available through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS). For pickup service hours see our library hours.

The pickup desk will reopen Wednesday, January 6, 2021. 

Loan periods 

Due date for all loans signed out in 2020 has now been moved to April 30, 2021.
