UTSC Library partially reopens for fall semester

The UTSC Library partially reopens as a study space, Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 10:00 am. The library will be open Monday – Friday, from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm for the start of the fall semester.  

Study spaces will be available by appointment to U of T students through the library booking system. TCard or government ID that matches your booking confirmation will be required at the desk. Two floors of the library are open for physically distanced studying. Study rooms for small groups are limited to individual use. All visitors will need to continue wearing non-medical masks in the library, observe physical distancing guidelines and make use of hand sanitizers available on both levels of the library. 

The UTSC Library Makerspace and The BRIDGE spaces remain closed.  Please continue to visit the library website regularly for operations updates.

Booking a study space  

Current U of T students, faculty and staff can reserve study spaces for up to 4 hours by making an appointment via the library booking system. It encouraged that you book a study space before entering the library for your study session. A booking confirmation will be required at the front desk.  Learn more about study spaces in the UTSC Library.  

Health measures  

The library is taking the following precautions to keep us all safe 

  • All visitors will be required to wear non-medical masks in the library  

  • Wipes are available in the Information Commons and hand sanitizer is available on both levels of the library 

  • Physical distancing (2 meters/6 feet) strictly enforced with seat bookings, signage, and an overall reduction in the total number of seats available  

  • Directional signs placed in the library to direct traffic flow  

  • Maximum occupancy signs posted for smaller spaces, such as bathrooms and the elevator  

  • Most high touch areas (printers, photocopiers) are off-limits  

  • Books and journals are quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours between checkouts 

Library pickup service 

UTSC students, staff and faculty are eligible to use the library's Pickup Service for print books not available through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS). Learn more about library hours: https://utsc.library.utoronto.ca/new-curbside-pickup-service
